About Us
Most people visit factories. I grew up in one.
My mother has spent her life in garment manufacturing — building Sumathi Garments, our Chennai-based export facility, into a workshop that crafts for international brands. As a single parent, the factory was her world. And so, naturally, it became mine too.
I didn't just watch. I absorbed. The weight of good fabric between your fingers. The sound a properly-tensioned stitch makes. The absolute refusal to send something out that isn't right — because when you're manufacturing for export, there's no such thing as "almost good enough."
That's the standard I was raised on. And that's the standard House of Solaura is built on.
Every piece we make is stitched in-house at Sumathi Garments — the same facility that manufactures for global brands. Not outsourced. Not compromised. Which is why we can offer the kind of quality you'd expect from a premium label, at a price that doesn't require an apology.
There's one thing that still moves me every time: my mother personally stitches the first sample of every new design. Not because she has to — because for her, it's personal.
I am the brain behind House of Solaura. She is the heart.
Somewhere along the way, this brand stopped being just my dream and became hers too. Solaura was born from her life's work, and everything we make carries a piece of that forward.
